History of the School of Rehabilitation
The School of Rehabilitation Sciences started its activities before the Revolution in 1974 as the Institute of Optometry affiliated to the former National University. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1986, the Institute of Optometry was joined the School of Paramedical Sciences of this university, and gradually other departments of rehabilitation, including audiology, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, were joined the Department of Optometry. In 1994, the above groups under the management of the School of Paramedical Sciences were established in the building No. (2) of mentioned school. On 1990-11-10, the establishment of the school of Rehabilitation Sciences in Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences was agreed upon, and on 1997-09-07, with the approval of the University Board, the inauguration of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences with independent management took place in the current location. Since then, fundamental changes have been made in the physical space, with the necessary equipment (library, audiovisual facilities, laboratories, clinics, etc.) for faculty members, staff and students of the School.Currently, the School of Rehabilitation Sciences is accepting students in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, audiology, and optometry at the Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels.
